<span style="color: rgba(0 , 0 , 0 , 0.87); font-family: "roboto" , "noto" , sans-serif; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">For weeks now I've been using Google Forms, FlipGrid, and Screencastify to administer assessments. I've used different features within each of these applications, but I struggled to know if my students had enough time to complete their assessments and maintain even the smallest amount of assessment security. I needed to find an application that would allow me to push out multiple versions easily, monitor student progress in real time, and provide meaningful feedback quickly. In this week's episode, I'll share how I started using GoFormative in my classes and how it has been an absolute game changer when administering assessments.
I decided to incorporate choice into the assignment because I wanted to ensure my students had the necessary materials at home to complete at least one of the experiments. In this week's episode I'll share my strategies for implementation, grading criteria, and some authentic student artifacts.
I was concerned that my students would not be in class to ask questions or engage with the content. In effort to help my kids prepare for their assessment, I decided to offer an online extra help/review session using Google Meet. In this week's video I'll share some tips on how to run a review session including camera setup, equipment, and how to establish expectations for your students when interacting in the session.

My holiday break is officially over and what better way to start the new year than with student choice and learning stations? This is the first time I have ever offered choice with station learning, and I'm so glad I did. Watch as I describe the five stations I created to help my students learn about ion-dipole intermolecular forces and how I used choice to improve student autonomy.
354.

This number was the inspiration behind this video. What does it represent? Well, this is the record for the greatest number of times a student logged into my online gradebook to check their grades in one month. And if you're doing the math, yes, this student checked their grades, on average, about 12 times a day. Astonishing isn't it?

Each year I've been chipping away at what seems to be an obsession with grades, to now placing more emphasis on the learning process. In this video I'll share how certain practices encourage my students to focus on the learning process as opposed to the numerical grade in the online gradebook. My hope is that you too will not only find comfort in knowing that you are not alone in dealing with this obsession, but that you will have tools in your toolbox to further promote the importance of learning and reflection.

A short video for a very short week!

Due to the NJEA teacher convention and a district-wide day of professional development, I only saw my students two days this week. It was a weird schedule, but I tried to make the best of it by engaging my college prep chemistry students in a new phenomenon. In this week's episode I'll share how I incorporated consumer products into a new phenomenon for our unit on bonding.
